• My third grader is homeschooled and uses this as a supplement for spelling.
  The Pros
  It has a good variety of exercises to practice the words, including some paragraph writing and occasional grammar practice built in. This was really what interested me in this book, since many spelling curricula keep words in isolation from any context or just introduce a few short sentences. That being said, it is not a heavy workload, perfect as a short and sweet supplement.
  The Cons
  The words are a little simple for third grade. We skipped the first few lessons for that reason, but even later in the book the words are somewhat below grade level. For that reason, I wouldn’t recommend it as a stand alone for spelling, though I have not tried other levels.

• The material was a great review of concepts covered over my son's third grade school year. It was an excellent tool to help prevent. summer slippage!

• I homeschool and I love this. It’s not hard but not extremely easy. It helps with writing as well as spelling since it has the kids do some story writing using their spelling words.
• Bought these to help my son with some things he is struggling with in school and he loves working on them
• I've been using these spelling books for homeschooling since my son was in 2nd grade. Next, year he will be in 5th grade. These books have lots fun exercises for practicing the spelling words in each lesson. My son always enjoys these books, and is never bored with them. Each lesson starts with a history or science story that uses the spelling words. Then has a crossword puzzle or word search, and a spellamadoodle page. Also the each lesson usually includes grammar and writing exercises. Last, there is a quiz page for the spelling and grammar covered in that lesson. These are great spelling books and fun for kids.
• Used this text before, love the additions like history and science. It is not just spelling so I love the idea of multitasking and expanding my child's learning. Using for homeschool but great for summer so less is lost in that time away from school.
