- If you're having a bad day you should read this book, and then compare your misfortunes to her's, and realize that you have no reason to be less optimistic than she is.
As for the book itself, she is an excellent writer. I was amazed at her ability to use that "show, don't tell" concept given her condition. - This is just a fabulous book! It provides the reader with the innermost thoughts of a spectacular human being. God was merciful to Helen and provided her with superior intelligence which was a large factor in her ability to overcome her double dose of sensory disabilities. I recommend this very short book of essays to everyone!!

- I am blown away by this book! To imagine that the beautiful and descriptive writing came from a person who lost her vision and hearing at 18 months old is simply mind blowing. Her view of the world is fascinating and uplifting. I love it and even bought another copy for my son!
